France - October, 2006
A view of the city of St-Tropez as we
arrived on October 11th. The sun did come out later in the
day.
The girls love to climb trees, of course.
This one is in the Place des Lices in St-Tropez.
We loved watching the men, and occasional women
too, play boules in the Place.
Trekking along the waterfront through old
St-Tropez.
Climb, hang, what's the difference?
One of the modern art exhibits at La Citadelle.
Joe got artistic with the camera, asking us to
imitate the pose of his favorite statue.....
Can you guess which girl this is?
Even the playground in St-Tropez is
upscale!
The playground in Juan Les Pins.
I think it is an interesting statement on
cultures that these are called "Dodge 'Em's" in England and
Bumper Cars in the US.
Lunch anyone?
Who needs a playground when you can slide down
the bannister?
Wow!
Sunset in Golfe Juan.
Our hang out spot in Juan Les Pins.
They are ALWAYS happy to play in the sand.
Cassie and Libby.
Joe and Amanda.
Christy, Taras and Henry.
Zia at anchor in Villefranche with our
dinghy at the dock.
La Reserve de Beaulieu hotel - tres
chic.
Uncle Mike had the girls captivated with his
stories.
The two Juliana's.
Yes, yes, it's another meal!
Villefranche has to be the prettiest
little town we have seen yet.
We took the dinghy into Villefranche to check it
out.
Aunt Juliana got to drag the girls around on
their Heelys.
Cocktail hour back on Zia.
Cocktail hour just is not the same without a
custom show put on by none other than.....Cassie and Juliana.
It was amazing to see how easily the girls bonded
with both Juliana and Mike.
And they continue to be best of friends.
Our last meal together in Nice.
In Mike and Jule's cabin onboard the WindSurf.
It is always important to make sure the bar is
well stocked before leaving port.
The view of Nice from the top deck of the ship,
with Zia docked along the far wall.
This is a better view of Zia in Nice.
A view of the WindSurf, Juliana and Michael's
cruise ship, from Zia's one and only deck!
Bye Aunt Juliana and Uncle Mike. We love
you!
This World War I memorial is quite visible from
sea, at the end of the seawall in Nice.
We bought a couple of folding bikes from our
buddy Georg in Mallorca. They have proven to be a
fantastic addition to our cruising arsenal. Joe and I took
them out for a test spin by ourselves but we later discovered
how to accommodate the kids by having them stand on the luggage
rack behind us. There is a fantastic bike path along the
coast in Nice and the old city is all pedestrian only so we've
had a great time exploring on the bikes. We wouldn't want
to ride them in any traffic, especially with the kids on the
back.
The menu at our favorite restaurant, Le Bistrot d'Antoine.
This ice cream store has dozens of flavors
including tomato basil, beer, avocado and chocolate pepper.
We stuck with the more traditional ones but it was goooood.
The view from the Chateau on top of the hill
between where Zia is in the port and the old city of Nice.
This big cruise ship came in late one night and
parked 50 feet from our bow. It totally blocked our
sunshine so we were happy to see it leave two days later.
