Sevilla, Espagna - August and
September, 2006
We passed a few large
freighters on the way up the Guadilquivir River to Sevilla.
And a few horses and cows. You could really
smell them coming from a mile away in the mid-day heat.
One of the many shrimp boats we passed anchored
along the river.
Other than that, there really wasn't much to see
along the way.
Our first stop in Sevilla after missing the 5pm
bridge opening.
The setting might not have been spectacular but
the certainly sunset was.
Plaza de Espagna, built for the 1929 World Fair
in Seville. One of the most beautiful plazas I have ever
seen.
One of the hazards of walking the streets in
Europe!
We spent many an hour enjoying the pool at the
Club Nautico de Sevilla.
And the cafe/bar too!
A very successful lunch at a typical Sevillano
tapas bar.
A view of the cathedral on the walk up to the top
of La Giralda, the bell tower.
Awaiting the start of the bull fight.
Just your average building in Sevilla....
The girls are off the get their afternoon ice
cream from the poolside stand.
The Torre de Oro, one of the better known
landmarks in Sevilla.
The Real Alcazar, the royal palace, was so
spectacular with incredibly ornate floors, walls, ceilings,
doors, and windows.
The palace gardens were equally captivating.
Returning to the boat after a day of touring.
You can see why the pool was so popular with the Zia crew.
We found a great restaurant right on the
waterfront that we could take our dinghy without worrying too
much about it.
Of course, Isla Magica was a highlight for all of
us.
