Monday, June 12th - Hamilton, Bermuda
Back home on ZIA in
Bermuda, we are full of mixed emotions as we prepare for
our trip across the Atlantic. Our ten day visit to
Annapolis was not nearly long enough to see all the
people we wanted to see or do all the things we wanted
to do, but we are becoming accustomed to that feeling.
No matter how much time we have in a place, we always
leave wishing we had seen and done more. I was
surprised at how much harder it was to say goodbye this
time around. I now realize that the Atlantic
crossing is a bigger deal than I had previously
imagined, judging by the heavy heart with which we left
our friends. I still have no major worries about
the journey, I'm just realizing how far away we will be
from our friends and family at the end of it.
I'm sure you all have
heard of Tropical Storm Alberto. We are keeping a
close eye on it and won't make any moves to leave the
safety of Bermuda until we know it will not affect us.
We have access to great weather forecasts and plenty of
good input from experienced sailors, so don't worry.
We are still waiting on
a minor part to be replaced on our spinnaker halyard.
Our rigging guy has been less than responsive when it
comes to completing the job, so we are a little
frustrated by that. On the other hand, we have no
pressing need to leave right away, so we are not
stressing out. Today is the Queen's Birthday
holiday here and all the stores are closed. We'll
need to get laundry done and provision for the trip
tomorrow anyway. Depending on Alberto, we'll stay
longer if we need to, but we'd like to take off on
Wednesday if we can. We'll just have to wait and
see.
Here are a few pictures
from our visit home.
XOXO

the website.
We also would like
to thank our buddy Scott Brunner who has been kind
enough to host the website on his server.
