August 8th, en route to Nantucket, Massachusetts

It is quite an honor to not only be the first guests of Zia and her hardy crew of Fishbos, but to be so warmly welcomed from the minute we stepped on board! After leaving Severna Park at 7.15 am and prematurely congratulating ourselves on getting through New York relatively trouble free, traffic slowed to a painful pace through Connecticut, which meant that we arrived in Wood's Hole a couple of hours late and a few beers short - quickly remedied by our hostess, aka the admiral of the fleet! Unpacking was brief and efficient (remember who we are dealing with here!!) and the Dunoyers were quick to settle in to Zia, learning the do's and dont's and of course where all the important supplies are located (see photo below!!) The kids were happy to find their old friend and run riot over the boat, followed by a quick swim in the chilly northern waters (certainly not Chessie temperatures). A quick meal at Cap'n Kidds and then home to bed rounded off our travel day perfectly

Day 1: Our first day was low key, anchored in Wood's Hole harbor yacht club (for yacht club, picture slightly off kilter hut on ramshackle piece of land!!) Christy and Lisa ran out for supplies to the local supermarket - anyone who has done this with Christy must know the pain she was feeling, gazing longingly at oversized packs of food and supplies as we filled our cart in a highly conservative, practical fashion... "should we buy the 4 pack of toilet rolls, or do we dare a 6 pack" - crucial decisions for our admiral! A visit from Joe's brother Mike and family and the rest of the day was spent in true vacation style - eating, lounging, reading, snoozing, eating and eating, oh with a little beach time in between meals!

Day 2: As I write we are en route for Nantucket - Captain Joe at the helm, pulling 10 knots from his belt, Christy and Cois doing his bidding with sails and ropes and winches and Lisa just looking lovely, lounging around and reading!!

We will check in again soon, but for the minute there is a small comfy slice of deck space calling my name!!

Thanks for checking in! Mum and Dad, if you are reading this, we have been trying to send you e-mails... please contact us through Christy's e-mail address so we can reply - I am not sure if I have your address correctly!
