Curious about who we are?  Learn a little more about us.....

Wednesday, February 7th, Badalona, Spain
Now that we are in the same place, following the same routine each day, it doesn't seem so interesting to write about our adventures anymore.  Between my class and picking up the girls, we manage to get a little excitement in our days, with Joe coming to meet me in town twice a week for various excursions.  This week we went to the Palau de la Musica Catalana and Park Guell:  two of the architectural marvels in this city full of architectural marvels.

The winter weather has settled in over the past two weeks with the temperatures dropping down to freezing during the nights but staying in the mid to high 50s during the days.  We have had hardly any rain so far, which is bad for Spain, but good for us on Zia since the boat gets a lot less appealing when it is wet outside.  I'm happy to say that we are plenty warm so it appears that the decision to continue living on the boat through the winter was a good one.

We've made a few friends here.  Of course Rafa and Mari are still here and we were invited to Toni's birthday party a couple of weeks ago.  They rented out a room for the day and invited all of their aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandmothers and grandfathers... and us... to celebrate the second anniversary of his birth.

There are also a couple of friends we have met through the kids.  They have invited various friends from their class over on the weekends and of course the parents come along to drop them off.  Jose and Monse have a daughter in Juliana's class and we were invited to their house last weekend for Sunday lunch.  Monse speaks good English but Jose's is limited to a few words he learned from watching American films.  We spent a thoroughly enjoyable four hours practicing our Spanish and getting to know them better.  Conversation came quite easily and they were very patient with my fumbling Spanish.  Both of them are born and bred in Badalona.  They speak Catalan at home but, like all Catalans, they also speak fluent Castellano.

Aside from the occasional social  engagement, our weekends are pretty free.  We bought rollerblades for all the girls and enjoy a trip down the Passeig Maritim at least once during the weekends.

We bought an annual membership to the zoo so we have been there several times.  It is a favorite of the girls and a great excuse to get them out into the city.

There is also a movie theater close to the zoo that shows movies in their original version so we've seen a couple of the recent releases.  Night at the Museum was a huge hit with the FishBo family!

We are starting to talk about plans for the spring.  We'll most likely head for the Balearic Islands in April: Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.  We went to Mallorca in October, but stayed mostly in Palma and missed a bunch of sights so we want to go back.  We are talking about heading east from there to Sardegna, then north to Corsica and from there, further north, either back to France or to the Italian coast.  Italy will likely occupy quite a chunk of our summer, but the plan is to be in Croatia by mid August.  From there, we have kept it open.  We'll just wait and see.

As always, we love hearing from you so drop us a line!
